Places to Visit While You're Here

When you come to Eastman, Georgia, you return to a lost world, where there's nothing much to do and no place you really must go.   Leave your anxieties behind and enjoy a few leisurely days of quiet sleep (the train comes through town only once during the night), browse among our books and 1916 magazines, and indulge in the bountiful Southern breakfasts.  Relax by reading in the parlor or playing the piano.

If you must move about, stroll downtown to get a vanilla Coke at the drug store, drive to the edge of town for some good fishing at our town's 125-acre lake, or play golf at our new golf course among the pines.

If you want to get the genuine "farm feeling," in summer we'll direct you to local orchards where you can pick peaches.  In the fall we'll arrange for you to pick a little cotton.

If you're in the mood for a nice day trip, we are just over an hour from Plains, Georgia,   where you can attend a Sunday School class taught by President Jimmy Carter.   While you're  in the "Presidential Pathways" region of Georgia, you may choose to observe  Civil War history and the touching memorials at the P.O.W. Museum in Andersonville, Georgia.  On your way home you'll want to stop at the fabulous museum at Leslie to see the finest collection of antique and period telephones in the world.  The incomparable Museum of Aviation is in nearby Warner Robins.

Eastman is in the "Magnolia Midlands," just over two hours from Savannah and the Georgia beaches.
